8 Top Rated Hotels In Jackson Wyoming

8 best hotels in Jackson Wyoming by Best Hotels Anywhere

Jackson has a wide range of excellent cheap, mid range and luxury hotels available for your visit to Wyoming. It’s a convenient place to stay for visiting Grand Teton National Park, it’s the perfect stopping point if you’re driving from Salt Lake City to Yellowstone and it’s a hugely popular ski resort in the winter. We’ve stayed at 2 different hotels in Jackson and we really like the Old West cowboy town, but it’s definitely the most expensive place you’ll stay around the two famous national parks.

In this guide we show you the best hotels in Jackson Wyoming for all budgets, based on our experiences.

Our Experience In Jackson WY

Here we are at Signal Mountain in Grand Teton National Park

We stayed at Alpine Motel and Cowboy Village Resort in Jackson, WY during our visit to Yellowstone and Grand Teton in October 2019. Alpine Motel was affordable when we needed a cheap night and our cabin at Cowboy Village Resort was excellent. But we’ll definitely try new hotels next time we’re in Jackson because there are so many fantastic options!

Although there are several in-park lodging options, we think Jackson is the best place to stay for Grand Teton because it has more amenities and restaurants. It didn’t take us long to drive into the park for sunrise at Mormon Row and Schwabacher Landing, so we’ll stay in Jackson again when we revisit Grand Teton. Read more about us.

Where To Stay In Jackson Wyoming

We think the best place to stay in Jackson is within walking distance to its small town square where you’ll find the elk antler arch, shops, restaurants and bars. Some of the cheaper hotels in Jackson are located to the southwest of town and you’d have to drive into town for dinner. So we recommend booking closer to town if it fits your budget.

Your main alternative to Jackson is Teton Village, which is located at the base of towering mountains and is often used in winter for easier access to the ski lifts. Teton Village is more expensive, quieter and more scenic but it has fewer amenities.

Affordability

After two extensive trips to Yellowstone and Grand Teton (and lots of hotel stays!), we think Jackson is the most expensive place to stay around the parks. And it’s because Jackson is more than just a tourist resort town for the national parks, it’s an extremely popular place to visit in its own right and it’s also a popular winter destination for skiing.

If you visit Jackson between June and September or between December and March, you can expect house prices to be heavily inflated. So our advice is to plan your trip for May or October if you want to save money.

Added Tax

Bear in mind when booking your hotel in Jackson that you’ll pay 14% hotel tax on top of your base rate. And you should also look out for additional resort fees or property service fees.

So, let’s say the basic nightly room cost at a cheap hotel is $200.00 for one night, your actual total cost is going to be $228.00.

  • When booking your hotel using Booking.com look under the price for includes taxes and fees. This means the price you see is final and will not be subject to further add ons.
  • Conversely, if you see text reading something like +$50 for taxes and fees, that means you’ll pay the hotel room cost + the additional 14% fees for bed tax and all other fees associated.

Our Verdict

Our pizza at the popular Hand Fire Pizza in Jackson (yes, the lights really are that bright!)

Jackson is a very popular place to stay near Grand Teton and Yellowstone in the summer and for skiing in the winter. It has a superb selection of cheap, mid range and luxury hotels, but they’re among the most expensive in the region.

We think Cowboy Village Resort is the best cheap place to stay, Inn on the Creek is the top mid-range lodging option and either Huff House Inn or Wyoming Inn would be a fantastic luxury stay for your visit to Jackson.
