Our Experience In Springdale
We’ve stayed at hotels in Springdale, Virgin, La Verkin and Hurricane throughout separate trips to Zion in October 2019 and December 2021. We also spent a night at Zion Watchman Campground and Zion Lodge, so we’ve got a lot of hotel experience in the area. Read more about us.
In Springdale, we’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and the Best Western Plus. Both were excellent stays in the heart of town close to restaurants, shops, hire gear places and visitor center for shuttles into the canyon. Next time we visit Zion, we’ll definitely stay in Springdale again.

Zion Park Motel is the cheapest hotel in Springdale UT with top ratings by previous guests. There are cheaper hotels but they’re not as highly regarded. So if you’re visiting Zion on a low budget, this motel with a superb central location is the perfect place to stay.
Reviewers rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, value for money and location the highest at Zion Park Motel. It has one of the highest value for money scores and comments are extremely positive about the swimming pool. In essence, it’s a simple but effective cheap hotel near Zion National Park.

Holiday Inn Express is a fantastic cheap hotel in Springdale Utah with a wide range of excellent amenities and positive guest ratings. Its outdoor pool and hot tub area is lovely, breakfast is great, the Springdale village shuttle stops right outside the hotel and it’s an affordable place to stay.
Reviewers rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location the highest at Holiday Inn Express. We spent a night here and it was outstanding. The pool and hot tub terrace area is huge and eating a good breakfast with views overlooking Zion’s red rocks never gets old.

Hampton Inn and Suites is the top rated cheap hotel in Springdale Utah. It’s almost a carbon copy of the Holiday Inn Express above with similar amenities and location but slightly higher guest scores overall. We highly recommend checking the prices at both to see which is cheaper when you stay in Springdale.
Reviewers rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location the highest at Hampton Inn and Suites. It’s another excellent lower budget accommodation at a typical hotel chain where you know exactly what you’ll get for your money.

Best Western Plus is one of the overall best hotels in Springdale Utah. It has exceptional guest ratings on all popular online platforms and we can back up the positivity with our own wonderful experience. It’s definitely among the most complete Best Western’s we’ve stayed at in the US.
Reviewers rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location the highest at Best Western Plus. Guest comments are exclusively positive about cleanliness, staff and location on the north side of Springdale which is closer to the park.

Novel House Inn is a unique place to stay in Springdale Utah. You can book one of just 10 vintage rooms decorated in the theme of a famous author at this family run inn in the heart of town. Breakfast vouchers are provided for you to use at nearby Oscars or Porters restaurants. We ate at Oscars and it was great.

The outdoor pool and sun terrace area looks lovely and guest comments are extremely positive about the overall experience. We think it’s definitely one to consider on the upper end of mid range budget.

Reviewers rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location the highest at Cable Mountain Lodge. You can book luxury suites with kitchens if you prefer to cook your own meals and you can relax around the pool area with awesome views each evening.

Flanigan’s Inn is a luxury boutique hotel in Springdale Utah with an eco-resort theme. It has top ratings and guest comments are extremely positive about the on site restaurant Spotted Dog (discounted for guests), the peaceful zen atmosphere and the quality amenities with Zion views.
Reviewers rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location the highest at Flanigan’s Inn. It has a superb location half way between the majority of restaurants in town and Zion visitor center, so you can either choose to walk or use the free shuttle which stops right outside.

Watchman Villas is a condo style luxury hotel in Springdale Utah with sky high ratings. It’s definitely one of the best places for couples, groups or families to stay because it has fully stocked kitchens perfectly set up for longer stays, and it’s even pet friendly. Just note that it has a 2 night minimum stay.
Reviewers rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location the highest at Watchman Villas. A two bedroom apartment here certainly beats booking two separate rooms at a chain hotel, especially for larger families. The apartments might be expensive for individuals but they could be cost effective for two couples.

Is Springdale A Good Place To Stay For Zion?
Springdale is the best place to stay for most visitors to Zion National Park. It has lots of hotels, restaurants, coffee shops and hire gear places. Zion visitor center and main canyon with hikes like Angels Landing and The Narrows are both very close to Springdale’s hotels.
Expect prices at hotels in Springdale to inflate heavily in peak season from April through October. We were able to book a very cheap hotel in Springdale during our visit to Zion in winter, so bear that in mind when deciding when to plan your trip.
The alternatives to Springdale are Virgin, La Verkin and Hurricane. Virgin has remote and romantic but expensive luxury glamping options, whereas La Verkin and Hurricane offer more budget friendly hotels near Zion.

Zion National Park Lodge
Zion Lodge is located half way up the main canyon around 5 miles northeast of Springdale, close to Emerald Pools trailhead. You can book traditional hotel rooms, more expensive lodge suites or cheaper semi-detached western cabins. Breakfast is included in the room rate but coffee is additional.
We stayed in a western cabin at Zion Lodge in December 2021 so we could wake up and hike straight up Angels Landing for sunrise. Our experience at Zion Lodge was okay, but we expected better for the higher price we paid. We’ve stayed at park lodges in Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Shenandoah so we have reference points to work with.
Here’s what we liked:
- The location is outstanding near Emerald Pools and Angels Landing.
- An extensive buffet breakfast is included.
- The view over Zion’s canyon walls from breakfast is amazing.
And here’s what we didn’t like:
- We had to pay extra for coffee at breakfast, which is very disappointing.
- The nightly rate for a western cabin in off season was twice as high as the best rooms in Springdale.
- The cabin wasn’t the cleanest and we could hear every word our connecting neighbors said.
How to book Zion Lodge:

- Try to get a lower rate with Hotels.com
Zion Lodge Or Springdale?
After staying at Zion Lodge and 2 hotels in Springdale, we think Springdale is a better choice. Especially in the off season when Springdale hotels are significantly cheaper.
You’ll benefit from far greater amenities like restaurants, laundry, grocery stores and waterproof hire outfitters for hiking The Narrows or The Subway.
Our advice is to stay for one night at Zion Lodge if you really want that inside-park experience. Otherwise, stick to Springdale where you have a better choice of hotels.

Our Verdict
Hotels in Springdale Utah are incredibly convenient for visitors to Zion. The small town has a fantastic setup for the park, with an extensive selection of quality restaurants and hotels. Prices at Springdale hotels are high in peak season but they can be surprisingly affordable if you visit Zion in the off season.
There are several excellent budget and luxury hotel options available to suit all types of traveler. Families with kids, groups of friends or couples seeking a romantic stay will easily be able to find the perfect hotel stay in Springdale. It’s our favorite place to stay near Zion.
